A jury of community members associated with the arts has selected Stephen Wogaman, the president of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit to receive the 2021 Birmingham Bloomfield Cultural Arts Award. The jurors noted that under his leadership the Chamber’s free subscription to ‘CameraMusic’, has connected tens of thousands of music fans in 46 states and 51 countries to the Chamber Music Society of Detroit and its co-presenters, offering worldwide live-streaming concerts while using donations to fund the musicians.

The jury also chose to award a Special Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael and Roberta Campion for their omniscient roles behind theatrical productions from schools to most of Birmingham-Bloomfield’s community productions for the past 50 years. The Birmingham Concert Band will receive the Board’s Partners with the Arts Award, which recognizes local non-profits, organizations or businesses that support the arts.

This is the 26th years the Cultural Council of Birmingham Bloomfield has presented the awards, in a partnership with The Community House, The Birmingham Eccentric and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.

Note: Due to Covid, the awards ceremony will be taped and disseminated on our website, by our co- sponsors, and on Bloomfield Cablevision after a limited-person event on Oct. 8 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.
