Birmingham Shopping District Provides Businesses with Personal Protective Equipment

BIRMINGHAM, MI, May 28, 2020 - The Birmingham Shopping District (BSD) is providing Small Business "Starter" Kits with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help BSD service-related businesses as downtown slowly reopens. Kits include various sizes of gloves, masks, touchless thermometer, and sanitizer.

Earlier this week, BSD staff members passed out kits in a “drive through” format in the parking lot behind City Hall at 151 Martin Street. Additional kits will be passed out on Friday, May 29 from 10 a.m. - noon. Businesses should keep an eye on for the announcement of additional distribution dates throughout June. The BSD is providing 150 kits and Oakland County provided an additional 250 kits.... Read more

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI - Oakland County public high school students who are looking for something to do that can also benefit them monetarily should look no further than the Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner Financial Literacy Multimedia Arts Contest. This 2-D and multi-media/video contest focuses on the importance of financial understanding. Thanks to sponsorship from Flagstar Bank, winners from each grade will receive significant cash prizes and college scholarships: top winners in grades 9-11 will each win $1,000 cash prizes; twelfth graders will win a $1,000 scholarship. Second and third place winners in each grade level will each win $750 and $500, respectively. Birmingham Finalizes Maple Road Reconstruction Agreement with MDOT

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. - During uncertain times the City of Birmingham wants to assure residents that important infrastructure improvement projects will continue in order to address the City’s aging infrastructure needs. The City has finalized arrangements with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and is working to establish a Maple Road Reconstruction Project start date with the Warren-based Angelo Iafrate Construction Company. DTE Foundation will match donations made to the Michigan Association of United Ways and Michigan Community Action for localized efforts across Michigan

DETROIT, March 31, 2020 - The DTE Energy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy, today announced that it will match all donations to the Michigan Association of United Ways and Michigan Community Action now through Thursday, April 16. The non-profits are focused on helping individuals, families and communities weather the COVID-19 crisis by supplying food, shelter and other basic needs. Donations can be allocated to particular United Way chapters and community action agencies to address emergency needs of a particular community. Mich. - April 1, 2020 - Oakland Community College will donate much-needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Beaumont Health System this week, with plans pending to deliver additional PPE to other Oakland County-area health systems. The Beaumont delivery will include exam gloves, masks, and goggles culled from the OCC Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, Dental Hygiene, Science, Art and Welding programs. In addition, OCC will loan two ventilators each to Henry Ford Health System and two ventilators to Ascension Health System from its Respiratory Therapy program. “We recognized a need in our community and worked quickly to gather as many items as we could from our campus instructional clinics and labs....
