Robert J. Gibbs,  Director of Birmingham based Gibbs Planning Group, has received a Doctor of Arts Honoris Causa from Oakland University at its December ceremony.

Gibbs, a professional urban planner also teaches  at Harvard University and has published numerous professional books.  Gibbs is currently assisting Andres Duany with hiis second master plan for the CIty of Birmingam. 

Gibbs has also been named by his peers as "One of the Most influential urbanist of the past Century" and has been honored by the Clinton Presidential Library, the City of Auckland, New Zealand and was recently inducted to the American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows.
