East Central MN Pride’s mission is to: “support persons who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and to provide information and education regarding this population to the general public living in East Central Minnesota.”

The organization's annual Pride celebration is held the first Saturday in June in Robinson Park in Pine City. This event is free and open to all.  It gives LGBTQ persons, other diverse audiences, their friends and allies an opportunity to participate and build community with other East Central Minnesota citizens within a high-quality, cultural environment. The concentration is on reaching people in the five counties of Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Pine and Chisago.  However, the event draws people from throughout Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

Many LGBTQ and people from other diverse backgrounds living rural or in small towns still often find it necessary to go to neighboring large cities for cultural experiences and/or to find quality entertainment. Likewise, the rest of the East Central MN citizens might not have an opportunity to attend events where they can share in a cultural experience with people from a variety of social, economic, racial backgrounds and sexual orientations. We feel our event fulfills both needs. It has also been a goal to use the performing arts as a vehicle to bring the LGBTQ and other diverse groups – as well as the general population – together in a safe, welcoming, high quality, culturally-rich experience.

ECM Pride is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.

The Pine City Heritage Players mission is to enrich, educate and entertain our community by providing a superior theater experience.

The organization was first organized in 1985 and produced shows for about 15 years with great success.  As volunteers and interest in performing declined, the group took a short break from producing shows.  In 2005 a group of interested individuals brought the group back together and a new board of directors was created.  Initially performing just one time each year the group has continued to grow and now offers a season with at least 3 events for performers and audience members to enjoy.
