OCDC provides Early Childhood Care and Education services to Head Start and Early Head Start eligible low-income children, pregnant women and families. We connect families to programs, services and opportunities in the community. We drive children to school, teach kids to read and write, and visit moms and dads in their homes. We provide well-paying living wage jobs in communities throughout Oregon and embrace cultural diversity and practice inclusiveness.

We are Oregon Child Development Coalition, a non-profit organization established in 1971, which grew out of a statewide, collaborative response to a tragic farm accident involving the death of a young child. Migrant-farmworker children’s needs for care during the day become incredibly difficult during Oregon’s peak agricultural months because their parents are working all day in the fields. Originally incorporated under the name The Migrant Indian Coalition, the mission of the organization was to ensure access to early childhood care and education opportunities for Oregon’s migrant farm workers.

In the forty-three years that have passed since the organization’s founding, we have evolved into one of the largest early childhood care and education service providers in Oregon, not to mention the state’s 6th largest non-profit organization. Each year the Oregon Child Development Coalition serves over 4,000 children and families in need in 12 Oregon counties.

Over the last 35 years, we have built a highly collaborative team with award-winning multidisciplinary expertise: urban design, architecture, planning, engineering, and construction management. Whether it is city and regional planning; new public works infrastructure; a transit or transportation project; a civic, institutional, or recreational project; or a mixed-use, residential, commercial, or industrial facility, we apply a clear vision, positive energy, and a client-centric focus to every project we touch.

In 1981 Otak’s founders set out to create the region’s premier multidisciplinary architecture and urban design firm.

Otak’s name comes from the initials of its three founders: Nawzad Othman, Ralph Tahran, and Greg Kurahashi. Otak quickly grew into a firm with a presence around the entire western United States and the Middle East, with a strong reputation for excellence in smart growth planning, sustainable design and development, and innovative transportation solutions. Creativity, integrity, and skill have guided Otak’s efforts as an award-winning architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, planning, and construction project management firm.

In 2011, Korean firm Hanmi Global acquired a majority share of Otak. Since Hanmi Global’s involvement, profitable growth, through both organic growth and acquisition, has been a focus. In 2017 DAY CPM joined Otak and expanded our services to include comprehensive project management and owner’s representative offerings. In the same year Loris and Associates strengthened our design capabilities in Colorado. In early 2019 we added an architecture firm, V3 Studios, to bolster our capability in hospitality, mixed-use, and residential high-rise design. Growing rapidly, today we are operating out of eight offices in three states.
