Generalist – Human Resources: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family   

The Human Resources Generalist, reporting to the Human Resources Manager, will provide a full complement of HR support to the distribution center.   The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources office and is responsible for all areas related to the Human Resources function including but not limited to employee relations, policy implementation, recruitment, training and development, benefit and leave administration as well as the accurate and timely reporting of information to employees and management of the company. 

How You Will Make a Difference:   

  • Assists with employee relations needs including day to day issues, as well as more complex issues including investigations 

  • Under the supervisor of the Human Resources Manager, counsels management concerning employee related decisions.  Counsels employees on an as-needed basis. 

  • Interprets policy and benefit information when responding to questions from employees; assists HR Manager in policy development. 

  • Researches and develops salary recommendations; assists management with performance related issues and performance appraisal administration. 

  • Conducts new employee orientations and exit interviews with terminating employees. 

  • Supports the recruiting efforts of various department needs (sourcing, screening, interviewing, onboarding) 

  • Coordinates job postings for distribution center. 

  • Ensures that job posting and job selection policies are followed by all hiring managers advising them of procedures as required. 

  • Ensures compliance with State and Federal labor laws, Wage and Hour laws, and Affirmative Action 

  • Administers worker's compensation to include case management & follow-up with employees, supervisor, and medical support teams 

  • Assists managers and employees with career development and planning by suggesting career paths for employees. 

  • Assists in performance management and training and development of employees 

  • Creates and delivers various presentations for employees and managers 

  • Takes an active role in employee engagement activities 

  • Performs ad-hoc HR administrative duties as needed for the department 

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Skills for Success:   

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5+ years  

Educational/ Position Requirements:   

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources or related field 

  • 5+ years of human resources experience 

  • Specific knowledge of several human resources processes and practices (employment law/compliance, compensation, organizational development, leadership development, hiring/termination processes, risk management) 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook 

  • Experience with Workday or other similar HRIS programs preferred 

  • Distribution or Manufacturing experience preferred  

  • Demonstrated experience in administration of benefits and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes   

  • Ability to work autonomously, superb organizational skills 

  • Excellent customer service skills and mentality 

  • Excellent Communication Skills (verbal, written and presentation) 

  • Excellent organizational management skills 

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills and employee coaching skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels 

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. 

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus (verbal, written and presentation) 

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the management team that provides leadership and direction for the Distribution Center  

  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and other business practices, guidelines and documents 

  • Must be able to work on site with flexible hours to see all operating shifts 

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:   

  • Warehouse environment:  Must be physically capable of working in conditions normally associates with a merchandise warehouse or distribution center, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, seeing and hearing moving equipment to say out of harm’s way, and continuous power equipment noise 

  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours including weekends as necessary. 

  • Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25 lbs, depending on need
