Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Assist collections department in routine clerical
functions such as preparing written materials or correspondence (e.g., reports,
letters, memos, etc.), copies, incoming/outgoing mail. Initiate appropriate follow-up action on mail
returned as undeliverable. Record
address and phone number changes. Perform general office tasks such as data
entry and filing.
2.
Locate and notify members of delinquent accounts by
various forms of communication to solicit payment.
3. Process
Charge-Offs and complete monthly report.
Process garnishments and levy releases then disburses funds
accordingly.
4. Handle
credit disputes as assigned including research of disputed delinquent account
balances through credit bureaus; update member delinquency on credit bureaus
for credit reporting.
5. Answer
calls for screening, transferring, responding to inquiries and/or taking
messages and document notes in software.
6. Handle
accounts payable and record-keeping for department related expenses including
request for disbursement through accounting, send check and file paid
invoices. Order department supplies.
7. Submit
claims to insurance provider if vehicle is damaged.
8. Follow
prescribed policies and procedures to comply with proper method of processing
and handling all aspects of repossessed vehicles and foreclosed mortgage
loans. Work with outside parties and
designated credit union staff to accomplish function.
9. Direct
collection activities including, but not limited to, lawsuits, foreclosures and
replevins.
10. Perform
valuation of loan loss potential of delinquent accounts at month end.
11. Retention
of board reports, insurance, relocation of local vehicles to dealer or auction.
12. Update
Metric report and E Oscar.
13. Educate
and retain knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to collection of debt.
14.
Job requires cross selling other credit union products.
15. Professional,
well-developed written and oral communication skills. Ability to write routine
reports and correspondence using proper English grammar.
16. Ability
to read and interpret documents such as loan documents, regulations regarding
collections and policy/procedures.
17.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
18.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to
work cooperatively and politely with outside parties, members, and
co-workers.
19.
Ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet
numerous deadlines.
20.
Ability to adapt to changes in the work flow; manages
competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected
events.
21.
Maintain professional appearance and good attendance.
22.
Ensure highest level of accuracy and confidentiality in
all credit union business.
23.
Complete all required training programs.
24.
Other duties as assigned.
25.
Comply with BSA regulations when performing all job
requirements, and stay abreast of updates/requirements of BSA/OFAC/CIP/Fair
Lending through the completion of training courses assigned annually by trainer
as well as meetings discussing BSA compliance activities.
