THEATRE OFF THE SQUARE IN WEATHERFORD proudly presents the next production of their 2017 Season of Shows. The Miss Firecracker Contest is written by Beth Henley and is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. The comedy is directed by Wally Jones, with Megan Hamilton and Drue Pettigrew as Assistant Directors, and Jessica Michel as Stage Manager. The show dates are September 15 – October 1.

The Fourth of July is just days away, and 25-year-old Carnelle Scott is dancing her heart out. She has flaming red hair, a sparkler between her teeth, tap shoes on her feet, and The Star Spangled Banner on the tape deck, not to mention a burning desire to win the crown in this year's Miss Firecracker Contest — the annual beauty pageant in her tiny Mississippi town. Known around town as "Miss Hot Tamale" for a past that she would like to forget, Carnelle hopes a Firecracker victory will help her shake her tarnished reputation and leave town in a blaze of glory.

Members of the cast are Naomi Henley as Carnell Scott; Amanda Johnson as Popeye Jackson; Adrienne Cole as Elain Rutledge; Christian Lopez as Delmount Williams; Mark Gillies as Mac Sam; and Leslie Gale Jones as Tessy Mahoney.

Attend an afternoon or evening of entertainment beginning Friday, September 15, running weekends through Sunday, October 1. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors (60+)/students/children under school age. Matinee tickets are $12 for all ages and no other discounts apply. You can choose your seats and purchase your tickets to any performance online by visiting the website www.theatreoffthesquare.org. The theatre Box Office is open from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm Thursday evenings to purchase tickets and to reserve seats. Groups of 10 or more may reserve seating with prepaid admission of $13 per person on Fridays and Saturdays and $11 per person on Sundays. Additionally, all tickets are $15 at Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, with reserved seating recommended by calling 817-341-8687.
