Emerge Women's Professional Development Training

Regional and National Leaders Bring Women’s Professional Development to Kingsport on September 29

YWCA Bristol will host its final live event for 2017 for their Emerge Women’s Professional Series in Kingsport on Friday, September 29.  Emerge is a quarterly workshop led by local, regional and national experts with trainings specifically geared for women at all levels of their professional career. 

The September 29 workshop, hosted at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, will feature inspirational presenters providing women with resources and strategies to enhance their professional development.

Bethany Flora, is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in the Clemmer College of Education at East Tennessee State University where she also serves as the Associate Director for the Center for Community College Leadership. Dr. Flora will teach attendees to “Lean In. Step Back. Stand Firm.” By encouraging women to take educated risks and enjoy the adventures in their professional lives.  She will also teach women to know when to use the unique gifts of nurturance and intuitive sensing when things may need adjusting.

Jeanine Joy, Ph. D., is an author, international speaker, Founder and CEO of Happiness 1st Institute. Dr. Joy followed a non-traditional path to mastering the knowledge she shares by pursuing a passionate interest with determination for more than two decades. Happiness 1st Institute approaches employee engagement, change management, positivity training, resilience building, intrinsic motivation and stress reduction at the root cause level.  Dr. Joy will discuss “Burnout: Prevention and Recovery, Resilience and Retention” to give attendees strategies that develop and reinforce an internal locus of control and understand factors that have a major influence on burnout.

Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers, are co-hosts of the popular podcast, Pantsuit Politics. Sarah is a professional blogger and social media consultant and currently serves on the City Commission in her hometown of Paducah, KY.  Beth is a Human Resources Executive, attorney and yoga instructor.  Together the pair will discuss “Finding Your Voice: Collective Collaboration”, in which they will teach how to speak with power and respect to bring divergent viewpoints together, and how to sift through media noise to make informed decisions.

 

Attendees at the Emerge Conference will also be awarded .4 Continuing Education Unit credit by Northeast State Community College.

vertical-align:baseline">“It is our mission to build leaders and empower women in the workplace.  The September workshop is a development training both aspiring and seasoned professional women won’t want to miss!” said Tammy Henkel, director of mission advancement for the YWCA.
