General Membership Luncheon

The May General Membership Luncheon will feature Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture strives to sustain and promote the viability of food, fiber, and agricultural industries in Delaware through quality services that protect and enhance the environment, health, and welfare of the general public.

Michael Scuse was reappointed in 2017 by Governor John C. Carney as Delaware Secretary of Agriculture. Scuse previously served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Acting U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Acting Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, and Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services. As Under Secretary, he oversaw USDA's Farm Service Agency, Risk Management Agency, and Foreign Agricultural Services. He served as Delaware Secretary of Agriculture from 2001-2008, and also served as Chief of Staff to former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner. 

Among the topics that will be covered are:

  • agricultural competitiveness in the region
  • similarities and differences of agriculture in Maryland and Delaware
  • current challenges to agriculture 
  • DDA's engagement with farmers
  • programs to help farmers in the area

Taste of the Town with Delmarva Eats

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, Evolution Craft Brewing Co. and Southern Boys Concepts are pleased to announce that the 15th Annual Taste of the Town with Delmarva Eats will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Dove Pointe in Salisbury, MD.

 

This "Iron Chef Competition" features restaurants from all across Delmarva, who will present samplings of their best dishes in one of three categories:
 

Simple Tastes - represents casual, light fare

Signature Tastes - represents upscale, more refined dishes

Delectable Dessert - represents the creme de la creme of Delmarva desserts

 

Attendees have tickets used to cast their vote in each category. The participant with the most votes wins their category and is presented with a commemorative plaque, cash prize, and recognition in the media and on Chamber websites.

Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council Grant Deadline

What Are SWAC Grants?


The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council awards Community Art Project, Operating and Emergency Grants to local arts organizations, and Arts Enhanced Education Grants to Wicomico County public and private Schools. The first of two deadlines for Community Art Project Grants offered this year, AND THE ONLY DEADLINE for OPERATING GRANTS, is fast approaching!  The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council encourages all qualifying arts organizations and schools to apply for grant funding to create “Arts for Better Living.”

When Is the Deadline?


The deadline for the first of two Community Art Project Grant cycles for FY25 fiscal year is JUNE 7, 2024.  The ONLY Community Art OPERATING Grant opportunity deadline is JUNE 7, 2024.

This first cycle grant distribution of the Community Art Grants means that the grant can be used for an entire year from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 for either arts operating support, arts special projects, or arts emergency support available for incorporated non-profit 501(c)3 arts related organizations in Wicomico County.

WHAT TO DO NOW?
