The 2024 State of the Wicomico County Public Schools Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Wicomico Civic Center in the DaNang Room.

Presented by First Shore Federal, Comcast, and Delmarva Power, the State of the Wicomico County Public Schools Luncheon is an opportunity to hear from the Superintendent of Wicomico County Public Schools, Dr. Micah Stauffer.

Dr. Stauffer will discuss achievements and areas in need of improvement throughout the county, as well as plans for future success.

This month's stories include, I Love You Strawberry Much, Spring is for Strawberries, and Strawberries are Red.

After the stories, children can get a $4 kids cup of yogurt. What a sweet story with a happy ending!!

The sweetest craft is happening this month at sweetFrog - Strawberry Cupcakes in a Jar!

You will be provided with the ingredients needed to create a beautifully layered jar, including cupcake liners. Then decorate with a big bow and sticker. Each jar of mix makes six cupcakes! After you've finished your craft, enjoy a kid's cup of sweetFrog froyo with toppings!

Tickets are $15 and include all supplies, instruction, assistance, and a kid's cup of froyo.

The Wiersberg Warriors Foundation is proud to sponsor its 3rd Annual Chicken BBQ. Our nonprofit was created in 2022 in honor of our son, Fruitland Police Dept. OFC Spencer Butler Wiersberg. Spencer passed away from Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare childhood cancer, on January 12, 2020. 

We started the foundation to assist other young adults on Delmarva who are battling cancer, or other serious illness or injury. 100% of your donations are tax deductible and stay here, on the Eastern Shore, to help other young adults like Spencer.

We provide money toward bills, meals, or small gifts to lift a warriors spirits because in our world, No One Fights Alone. 

Join the fun at sweetFrog with a super sweet art party! Create a strawberry masterpiece with your hands and savor the sweetness!

The event takes about 1 hour and costs $10 per participant. It includes all art supplies, step-by-step instructions and then a kid's cup of sweetFrog to celebrate your masterpiece! (Only one visit to the toppings bar.) Adults and children are welcome to participate!

Although walk-ins are welcome, a minimum number of online or in-store ticket sales must be purchased prior to the day of the event, or the event will be canceled. We will begin the painting class promptly at 11am.

The 2024 Ladies and Mixed Team Golf Challenge, a 9 hole "Fun for Everyone" event presented by Pohanka Automotive of Salisbury and CareFirst, will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, beginning at 3:30 PM at Green Hill Country Club. Check in begins at 2:30 PM.

The event is for beginners and seasoned golfers alike.

The May General Membership Luncheon will feature Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture strives to sustain and promote the viability of food, fiber, and agricultural industries in Delaware through quality services that protect and enhance the environment, health, and welfare of the general public.

Michael Scuse was reappointed in 2017 by Governor John C. Carney as Delaware Secretary of Agriculture. Scuse previously served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Acting U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Acting Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, and Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services. As Under Secretary, he oversaw USDA's Farm Service Agency, Risk Management Agency, and Foreign Agricultural Services. He served as Delaware Secretary of Agriculture from 2001-2008, and also served as Chief of Staff to former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner. 

Among the topics that will be covered are:

• agricultural competitiveness in the region
• similarities and differences of agriculture in Maryland and Delaware
• current challenges to agriculture 
• DDA's engagement with farmers
• programs to help farmers in the area
• agritourism
