JURASSIC TIMES CALL FOR JURSASSIC TRICK-OR-TREATING
TROY, MI
09/13/2022 09:02 AM

Troy, Michigan – Visitors to the Troy Historic Village are accustomed to traveling back in time, but this October they will be transported back even further, all the way to the age of the dinosaurs! Troy “Prehistoric” Village Trick-or-Treat will take place at the Troy Historic Village on Friday October 21 from 4:00-8:00pm and Saturday October 22 from 12:00-3:00pm.

“We like to make our Trick-or-Treat events fun and family-friendly – not scary,” explains Village Youth Programs Director Alex Konieczny. “In the past we have gone to the circus, outer space, even fairy tale land. Last year we went under the sea. This is our first time going so far back into the past, so we are very excited.”

Guests will begin their prehistoric adventure by entering through a Jurassic Park-style gate under the watchful eye of a big T-rex. Once inside, families will enjoy dinosaur-themed games and activities, like digging for fossils and arranging bones to make a custom dino. Children are invited to make a T-rex craft to take home and they can compare their height with various dinosaurs. Young trick-or-treaters can win prizes for guessing the number of dinosaurs in a jar, run a dino-themed obstacle course, and test their ring-toss skills with a tricera-toss game. Visitors are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes as they go prehistoric trick-or-treating, collecting candy and trinkets, as well as allergy-friendly treats from Teal Pumpkin stations.

“Similar to last year’s Halloween program, we’re offering timed entry and holding the event on multiple dates to make sure there’s plenty of space for everyone,” says Village Executive Director Jen Peters. “I look forward to seeing so many faces from Troy and the surrounding community at Trick-or-Treat each year! Whenever people find out I’m with the Village, they tell me about the field trips they’ve come to or the community events like Trick-or-Treat they enjoy with us.”

Troy “Prehistoric” Village Trick-or-Treat will be held rain or shine. The event features free onsite parking at the Village, as well as free overflow parking at Brookfield Academy just a short walk down the street. For discounted event pricing, guests may purchase their Trick-or-Treat admission by midnight on Thursday October 21 www.troyhistoricvillage.org/programs/troy-prehistoric-village-trick-or-treat/. Advance price is $7 for Troy Historical Society Members and $9 for Non-Members. Tickets will also be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis ($8 for Troy Historical Society Members and $10 for Non-Members). All children under 2 are admitted free. Troy “Prehistoric” Village Trick-or-Treat is sponsored by Genisys Credit Union and Kurtis Kitchen and Bath. Treats are provided courtesy of Troy Garden Club and Troy Historic Village volunteers.
