Shaffer Park Dedication Ceremony

The park located at the intersection
of Tomahawk Road and Mission
Road, formerly called Prairie Park,
has been renamed to Shaffer Park in
honor of Ron Shaffer, the longest
serving mayor in Prairie Village
history. Shaffer was elected to the
Prairie Village City Council in 1989
and then became mayor in 1999. He
served until 2014 when he was elected
to the Johnson County Commission.
A formal dedication ceremony will be
held Saturday, September 28.
