Run to the Latin Beat 5K Health Fair Event

Run to the Latin Beat 5K Health Fair Event
The 2nd Annual Run to the Latin Beat 5K/Health Fair Event.
An upbeat celebration with your health in mind.
The Mississippi Hispanic Association (MHA) is pleased to present the 2nd Annual Run to the Latin Beat 5K and Health Fair to commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th).  Last year’s 5K was a great success, and what better way to improve and give back to the community than by adding FREE health screenings and some basic preventative medicine to this great event—high blood pressure, diabetes and dental hygiene are just to name a few.  MHA, a non-profit organization, along with UMMC and various generous sponsors present this festive community event intended to celebrate multiculturalism, a cornerstone of our great nation, while keeping your health in mind.  Join us on Saturday, October 14th at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Trace Park in Ridgeland, MS.
Whether you choose to run or walk the 3.1 mile course through the shaded pathway of the Natchez Trace Park, you are sure to enjoy the scenic tranquility of early autumn during this 5K.  Following the 5K, there will be a fun run for the kids and a Zumba class—as well as complimentary entertainment and refreshments for all runners, walkers and volunteers.  Come out and revel in the Latin beat with D.J. (insert Cucho’s name/or company here) as well as our Latin Folkloric dancers.  Savor the Latin flavor in few ethnic culinary samples.  Bring the whole family as there will be games, inflatables, and even a piñata for the kids!
Participants are encouraged to run/walk in their most creative outfit representing any Hispanic nationality or U.S. nationality.  In addition to the individual 5K awards, an award will be a presented to the most original national outfit; the 1st place overall male and female 5K run winner will receive a $100 CASH PRIZE; and there will be many door prizes including a $150 CASH PRIZE giveaway.
Registration is open now.  The pre-race day entry fees are $25 Individual (race day, $30) and $10 Kids Registration [12 & under] (race day, $15).  Use discount code RTLB15 online for 15% off until the end of September.  Late fees will apply to entries that are postmarked after October 1st.  The first 300 registered participants will receive an official Run to the Latin Beat T-shirt in a custom draw-string bag filled with specialty items from local sponsors.  We strongly encourage early registration to secure a t-shirt of desired size.  Entry forms and complete event details are available by visiting www.runtothelatinbeat.org.  Entry forms and fees can be dropped off at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance; mailed to our P.O Box; or register online at www.active.com.  Race packet pick-up will be October 13th at the Fleet Feet in Jackson (on Hwy 51) from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p m and also the morning of the race at the race site.

Presented to you by our Presenting Sponsors: United Healthcare Community Plan, and Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. Our Cultivating Sponsor:  C-Spire and our Mentoring Sponsor: AARP Mississippi.  Additional sPatron sponsors include: Magnolia Federal Credit Union, Design Studio, Elmore & Peterson Law Firm, AllState Insurance, Bank of Morton, Danks Miller & Cory Law Firm, LABA Link (Latin American Business Association) and Eslava’s Grille.
