Time to put on your baking hats! March is Hunger Awareness Month in Gaithersburg. Get excited Chamber Members. You and your employees can participate in the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce and King Arthur Flour baking contest. We are looking for your best and most delicious muffin!
The King Arthur Flour Company is a supplier of flour, ingredients, baking mixes, cookbooks, and baked goods. Throughout the month of March, King Arthur Flour will offer a series of free baking classes with the goal of Learn Bake and Share; participants will learn how to bake from scratch, they will take home free flour to use their new skills to bake, they will then share what they bake with one of the many amazing hunger relief organizations in the community. You have a chance to participate in Hunger Awareness month through the King Arthur Flour “Bake for Good” contest.
Join us on February 26 at 7:30 AM at JK Moving Services. JK Moving Services is a local, long distance 48 states, moving company with over 300,000 square feet of household, office, & record storage. We will be meeting at their new location. Thank you for your sponsorship!
How to participate!
*Find your favorite muffin recipe; no mixes or premade frostings allowed
*Sign up as a contestant at the Chamber office and grab a free bag of King Arthur *Flour from the Chamber office (All Purpose and White Whole Wheat 2-lb bags will be available)
*Bring your winning muffins to the Chamber Breakfast Mixer on February 26.
*Breakfast begins at 7:30 AM, all entries should be there by 7:45 AM
*Bring a dozen of your best muffins on a disposable plate or similar – three for judging and three for breakfast treats & then six as a donation to Nourish Now to support their food recovery program in Montgomery County
*Bring a copy of your recipe, typed or clearly written
*Judging will begin at 8:00 AM; winner announced, and prizes awarded at 8:45 AM
*There will be one winner and a prize of a $100 King Arthur gift card!
*All other contestants will receive prizes as well!
*Muffins will be judged on:
Appearance [appealing presentation, consistency in shape and size
Texture/Moistness [tender, not soggy or oily, not dry]
Taste [complimenting ingredients and flavors]
Not a baker but still want to help fight food insecurity? The Chamber will be accepting donations to Nourish Now at the breakfast. You can bring a monetary donation or look at the items on their “in need” list on https://nourishnow.org/give-food/. Get your colleagues involved. NOTE: you do not need to bake to attend this event.
