Camp CommUnity or CU as we like to call it, is a Wimberley-created, community-centered program built to give all kids the chance to grow and learn in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Our one-of-a-kind, hands-on programs focus on teaching the next generation to become resilient, self-sustainable, and independent individuals through the use of experiential learning.

At CU, we believe experience is the most powerful tool our children need and through hands-on learning, we empower them to build crucial life skills and help bridge the connection from what they learn in the classroom to the real world— not to mention, break poverty cycles and other systemic barriers.

And the best part— we can’t wait to CU THERE!

Casa de Linda Art studio is where Linda Calvert Jacobson, a local artist whose wildflower paintings are in collections throughout the United States and licensed internationally, creates her magic. Open by appointment only, the studio is also where she shares her love of teaching others through basic art classes for adults. Linda specializes in teaching beginners in drawing, acrylic painting and watercolor. While many of her students are local Wimberley residents, her classes also draws from the surrounding area with folks driving weekly from New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, Blanco, San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Dripping Springs and Austin to study with Linda. For more information, visit www.casadelinda.com. A wide selection of Linda’s paintings can be viewed in person at Wildflower Art Gallery and online at www.wildflowerartgallerycom.

When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA. CASA volunteers are screened, highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system.

CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need. CASA volunteers save taxpayers’ money and children’s futures by helping children find safe, permanent homes as soon as possible.

CASA of Central Texas, Inc. provides valuable volunteer advocacy for abused children from Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties. CASA volunteers serve as the “eyes and ears” for the judges in child welfare cases. This includes researching each child’s situation and making objective recommendations to help them reclaim their childhoods from abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are frequently the only stable presence in these children’s lives.

CASA volunteers bring three critical qualities to their work: they focus on one case at a time; they bring a unique perspective to the court case; and their sole objective is representing the best interests of the child.
