Hilda Martinez was born in Sinton, Texas and raised in Edroy, Texas. Moved to Corpus Christi, TX when she was 12 years old. Graduate of Mary Carroll High School. She also attended Del Mar College.

While a senior at Mary Carroll High School she belonged to an organization called OEA (Office of Education Association). Where she learned all kinds of Office Skills. A school organization that provided office jobs. She was offered an office clerk position with the Better Business Bureau in July 1979 as a part time employee. After graduation she became a full-time employee. The BBB Position included Inquiry and complaint department. Throughout the years she learned various positions within the BBB including Accounting, Arbitration (Auto-Line Program), and sales. She managed 2 full-time staff members. Spoken to various consumers, businesses, civic groups, and media on Scams, Business Ethics, Consumer Problems, and other related BBB Programs and Services both English and Spanish. Is a BBB 25-year club member. She was laid-off after a BBB merger in December 2008.

Worked with the City of Corpus Christi as an Administrative Assistant and Interim Program Manager for the Community Youth Development (CYD) in December 2010 – 2020. The programs that CYD offered was to reduce juvenile crimes in our area.
