Statistics show that for the Jackson MSA – the women are typically dominate the workforce in the lower paying fields (care-giving, retail, food service, etc). Nationally, women are on the rise and outpacing men in healthcare (this is true for the Jackson MSA as well). Some other statistics that we found interesting are: Women are manufacturing’s largest pool of untapped talent. While women represent just over half of the total U.S. labor force, they comprise about one-fourth of the manufacturing workforce. Across nearly every manufacturing sector in the U.S., women are underrepresented. Women account for about 30% of all businesses nationwide – and almost 90% (of those 30%) have no paid employees. Over the past 10 years, minority women-owned businesses across the country have increase nearly 200%. That’s more than double their male counterparts. The Inaugural Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership’s emerge2016 conference aims to provide females from all backgrounds with the opportunity to attend a mentorship-focused conference that helps to develop an understanding of what challenges women face in the business world & how to overcome them. »Featuring breakout sessions, speed session, all designed to enhance both professional and personal development, as well as exhibitors and a luncheon with a powerful keynote speaker.
