The Boy Scouts of America was established in 1910 with the mission to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by installing in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Since 1976 the Northern Lights Council has been the council chartered by the BSA to provide program support to Scout units in all of North Dakota, and parts of Minnesota, Montana, and South Dakota. The Scouting program serves youth through age appropriate programs (units) designed to complete the mission of the organization. The program offers hands-on career discovery through interactive activities that help youth pursue special interests, grow, and develop.Sea Scout Ships Sea Scouting has promoted better citizenship and improved members’ boating skills through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage.
