ABC27 News Co-Anchor Alicia Richards to Emcee Manufacturers’ Association’s 118th Annual Event with Musical Entertainment

(York, PA) – The Manufacturers Association is delighted to announce that Alicia Richards, Co-Anchor of ABC27 News, will serve as the emcee and host for their 118th Annual Event on May 22nd at York College of Pennsylvania. The event will feature musical entertainment by The Emigsville Band. The Association, founded in 1906, is the voice of manufacturing in the region and supports manufacturers with the knowledge they need to operate, hire & train smarter.

 

Alicia Richards is the Co-Anchor for ABC27 newscasts and does special reporting for the station including interviewing the first female CEO of The Hershey Company, Michele Buck, and traveling to Kosovo to report on the Pennsylvania National Guard’s peacekeeping efforts. During her 30-year career in broadcast television she has received recognition for her work, winning a Keystone Media Award for her reporting on the opioid crisis and an Emmy Award for her stories on domestic violence. She was also the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters television Broadcaster of the Year in 2020. Alicia has served the central Pennsylvania community extensively and is recognized for her regular hosting and speaking engagements throughout the region. 

 

Joining Alicia at the Annual Event is the Emigsville Band, one of the oldest community bands, and an historic York County based community concert band. Originally known as the Acme Cornet Band who started with 16 band members, began in1878 and lasted until 1898. On September 6, 1906, the Acme Cornet Band reorganized with a membership of 22 instrumentalists. Today the band has a membership of over 50 instrumentalists and performs many concerts each season for picnics and community events in the Central Pennsylvania area.

 

The Manufacturers’ Association’s Annual Event, hosted this year at York College on May 22nd, brings together over 600 business and community leaders to highlight and recognize the manufacturing industry. This year, the event’s keynote speaker is retired Lieutenant Carey Lohrenz, the first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Navy, having flown missions worldwide as a combat-mission ready U.S. Navy pilot. Lohrenz is used to working in fast moving, dynamic environments, where inconsistent execution can generate catastrophic results. The keynote will be "Fearless Leadership: Lessons from the Flight Deck," where she will share her fascinating experiences operating in one of the world's most challenging environments – an aircraft carrier.
