Welcome to the 2022 class of WellSpan residents!

The lively, diverse group of medical school graduates came to WellSpan from all over the country and the world, to gain hands-on skills in various specialties. They will provide care across the WellSpan system under the supervision of attending physicians and senior residents.

Here is a little information about the latest class of residents, by the numbers:

There are 59 residents.
They are beginning residencies in seven specialties: dentistry, emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology.
The residents include 32 women and 27 men.
They came to WellSpan from 22 different states, countries, and one territory.
Sixteen residents are from Pennsylvania and 15 are from Maryland. Other countries, states, and territories they hail from include Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, California, Colorado, Texas, and Connecticut.
WellSpan has a rich history of educating medical professionals. Its surgical residency program is almost 80 years old, and its family medicine program has been training physicians for more than 50 years.

WellSpan also has a wide variety of training programs for a range of medical professionals at several teaching hospitals, including WellSpan Chambersburg, Good Samaritan, Waynesboro and York hospitals. It offers a nursing extern program; clinical fellowships in programs including hand surgery, orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, gynecologic oncology, and emergency medicine ultrasound; and internships in clinical pastoral education and behavioral health clinical psychology.
