The week of July 1, Cornwall Manor announced the completion of the final phase for construction of its new health center. The new facility has four “households” with 24 individuals residing per “household.” In each “household,” each resident has their own room and bathroom, and share a lounge, porch/balcony, and kitchen and dining area. On July 7, Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) and Uber announced a new agreement to provide regulations for Uber’s ridesharing platform at the airport. This arrangement will improve the flow of traffic on airport property, reinforce existing public safety standards around insurance and driver screenings, and ensure that travelers to and from the region have easy access to the reliable option that Uber provides. 

 

The Hershey Company announced that it will sponsor the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Hershey is also sponsoring the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team and has agreements with gymnasts Simon Biles and Shannon Miller and wrestler Jordan Burroughs. (Source: CPBJ.com)

 

Six high school students from local districts and students in various Lebanon County Career & Technology Center (LCCTC) programs will be inducted into the CTC National Technical Honor Society for the 2016-2017 school year in February 2017.  The new members of the society who will receive a  pin, certificate and stole to wear at  graduation are Emily Gill, Medical Assistant, Northern Lebanon School District; Mackenzie Hartranft, Medical Assistant, ELCO School District; Claudia Boyer, Law Enforcement (2015-2016) and Media Communications (2016-2017), Palmyra Area School District; Amber Sturrup, Law Enforcement (2015-2016) and Pastry Arts (2016-2017), Palmyra Area School District; Josiah Byler, Network Technology, Cedar Crest School District; and Jordan Bortner, Computer Repair Technology, Palmyra Area School District.

 

In a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provided two alternative plans for Williams’ proposed Atlantic Sunrise natural gas pipeline. However, both alternatives had been “previously dismissed” by the FERC. The final environmental impact study is due this fall, and a final decision is due in early 2017. (Source: CPBJ.com)

One of Highmark Inc.’s branches is selling its workers’ compensation business to BrickStreet Mutual, a company based in West Virginia. The workers’ comp business has $120 million in premiums. On July 8, Capital BlueCross announced that Theranos, a lab company based in California, will no longer be a provider for the organization. In celebration of the National Park Service's centennial anniversary, the Eisenhower National Historic Site is bringing one of President Eisenhower's historic tractors for display at Harrisburg International Airport. Located in Gettysburg, the Eisenhower National Historic Site preserves and interprets the home and farms of the Eisenhower family and the 34th president of the United States. 

 

For the month of August, Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery presents the work of two local photographers, Yvonne Roberts and Rich Walter. Yvonne Roberts' work focuses on the beauty of Central Pennsylvania. Many of her images are captured during her weekday commutes to her day job, an hour away in Lancaster County. Rich Walter's love for photography began as a child with his Brownie Box Camera taking pictures on family vacations. Walter’s subject matter varies widely, as do his techniques.  Recently, he has been experimenting with photoshop and experimental processes. 

 

The Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority (SARAA) board awarded $10,272,561 for improvements at three of the airports owned and operated by the authority. The board also approved a ground lease and airport joint use agreement with the PA Air National Guard, which operates the 193rd Special Operations Wing at Harrisburg International Airport (HIA). The ground lease extends the existing lease by another 21 years to 2063 and allows the installation to plan for capital improvement projects in the future. The joint use agreement generates $161,313 in annual revenue for SARAA. June was a busy month at HIA with American Airlines having its busiest month in two and a half years and Air Canada having its busiest month in over a decade. A total of 111,429 passengers used HIA in June, a nine percent increase over June of last year.

 

The Hershey Company reported a net profit of $146 million at the end of the second quarter on July 3. At the end of last year’s second quarter, the company reported a loss of $99.9 million. This was Hershey’s first quarterly sales increase in a year. (Source: CPBJ.com)
