Workforce development is just one of the many hats that a community college wears in the region that it serves! And HACC Central Pennsylvania's Community College is no different. Our job is to keep the communities that we serve equipped with a skilled workforce so that industries can thrive and be profitable. Whether enrolled in an associate degree-bearing accounting program or a 140-hour forklift program, our students are being prepared to obtain gainful employment. Some individuals need to acquire a skill set necessary to seek employment in as little time as possible and that's where HACC's Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division makes its mark!

In addition to the 200+ programs of study that can be started or completed at HACC's Lebanon Campus on Cumberland Street, six short-term programs are being offered at the Lebanon Campus that will prepare students for entry-level jobs in the healthcare and culinary industries. These programs can be completed in as little as three weeks and in no more than 10 months, and many with only a part-time commitment!

The programs being offered through HACC's Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division include basic culinary skills, medical billing and coding, nurse aide, personal trainer certification, pharmacy technician, and physician office assistant. These occupations are considered high demand occupations in the South Central Pennsylvania region and classes are enrolling now. Contact one of the program coordinators for more information at (717) 221-1352.

The Francis J. Dixon Foundation, a private foundation that supports healthcare and educational projects exclusively in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, is offering a graduation bonus to students who take and complete the programs at HACC's Lebanon Campus. Upon successful completion of all but the nurse aide program, students will be refunded 25 percent of the program’s tuition. All programs are eligible for veterans’ educational benefits, but if you aren’t eligible for the VA benefit, a payment plan is available.

Basic Culinary Skills - This 160-hour program is offered two evenings a week. The ServSafe exam is included in the tuition.

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist- Preparation for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certification exam is the focus of this 240-hour program which is offered two evenings a week and prepares students for jobs in healthcare reviewing medical records, assigning procedure and diagnosis codes to provided services, and researching medical claims. Upon successfully passing the AAPC certification exam, 30 credits will transfer to HACC’s health science associate degree program.

Nurse Aide - Attending class up to 8 hours a day for three weeks, learn how to care for residents in long-term care facilities and other healthcare settings. You will also prepare to take the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Exam.
