The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business Committee once again hosted its annual Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday, April 27, at the Coleman Chapel in Lebanon. Lebanon Valley College was the presenting sponsor for the event, and HACC Central Pennsylvania's Community College and Lebanon County Career & Technology Center were supporting sponsors.

Highlights of the luncheon included the announcement of the 2016 Non-Traditional Student Scholarship winner(s). There were two scholarship recipients this year: Kristina Denlinger who is working toward her Masters in Spiritual Formation and Direction at the Evangelical Seminary located in Myerstown, and Jamie Rhodes who is also attending the seminary for her Masters in Divinity.

In addition to taking classes, Kristina Denlinger also works part-time at Preferred Self-Storage and she and her husband are homeschooling their three children: Zachary, 11; Jayna, 9; and Sierra, 7. In her scholarship application, Kristina stated, “…my overarching career goal is to help women to find hope and healing for their lives in all areas – emotionally, physically, relationally, and spiritually.”

Jamie Rhodes lives in Chambersburg, PA, and works full-time at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren as the Director of Christian Education & Youth Programs. In her scholarship application, Jamie wrote, “…I am a very hardworking woman who wants to fulfill a life that benefits others and their walk with Christ…I know that continuing my education is a must.”

The luncheon's featured speaker was Tracey Jones of Tremendous Life Books. Tracey presented on "Pioneers of Personal Progress: The Tremendous Value of Lifelong Learning," and spoke about the spirit of adult learners, encouraging them to stay disciplined.

Tracey Jones, born in Mechanicsburg, PA, is the president of Tremendous Life Books. She stepped into the role of president in 2009 to carry on the legacy of her father, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, who started the business in the hopes of “changing the world one book at a time.” After attending the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM, Tracey entered the Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. Her military career has taken her overseas in the first Gulf War, to Bitburg Air Base in Germany, and to RAF Lakenheath in the UK.

After 12 years in the Air Force, Tracey left the military in 2000, and began working at a top semiconductor manufacturing firm located in Austin, TX. While in this occupation, she earned her MBA in Global Management. Before moving back to PA, Tracey most recently served in St. Louis as the project manager of a diverse base operations service contract for the government. Tracey’s hobbies include biking, golfing, traveling, spending time with her pets, and reading.

Congratulations again to the Non-Traditional Student Scholarship recipients and thank you to our event sponsors! Thank you also to Tracey Jones for being our featured presenter!
