The New Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity
Lebanon, PA
03/16/2016 11:52 AM

Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County and Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity announced today that the two nonprofit organizations are officially consolidating, becoming Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity. Habitat programs, which include homeownership and home repairs for qualified low-income families, will continue to be offered within their designated service areas of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.

“Habitat Lebanon was rehabilitating one home a year and completing three to four repairs,” Eric Weaver, the director of Habitat Lebanon, said. “Our board felt that in order to best steward our community resources, serve more families and reduce administration costs, it was beneficial that we merge with a larger Habitat affiliate. Together, we are able to do so much more.”

“This consolidation will open so many more doors to homeownership across the region. We can be more effective,” Lancaster Habitat Executive Director Stacie Reidenbaugh said. “And, by removing the line between our counties that limits our service area, we can expand our pool of prospective homebuyers, volunteers and donors, as well as purchase more affordable real estate for building homes.”

With formal completion of the consolidation expected in the near future, the organizations have already teamed up on local building and repair efforts. Most recently, volunteers from both counties have been working together in the construction of a single-family home in Elizabethtown. Additionally, the launch of a complete home renovation on Lehman Street in Lebanon, supported by Thrivent Builds, began this month.

The new board will consist of representatives from both counties. Lancaster Habitat’s current executive board will continue to lead the new organization for the remainder of their term. Until the organization secures a centralized office space, the offices in both Lebanon and Lancaster will remain in operation. Anyone wishing to contact Lancaster Lebanon Habitat can use the current phone numbers, 717.867.1044 (Lebanon) and 717.392.8836 (Lancaster).
