Lebanon, PA

The Lebanon County Association of REALTORS® (LCAR) presented Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County with a check for $11,800 from the Benefit Auction the association recently held at Lebanon Country Club.

The benefit auction for Habitat included dinner and a silent and live auction, as well as a variety of artwork donated by local artists. An onsite caricaturist contributed proceeds from sketching cartoons of attendees. Special guest speakers from the community were also featured during the evening program. Liz Cruz, who became a Habitat homeowner at the end of October, shared her experience with attendees. “Being on the worksite of my new home and working alongside the volunteers was humbling. I learned to use power tools, became familiar with a hammer, put up insulation, and did some painting as well. The fact that I was able to be a part of the renovation of my future home makes it all the more special to me,” said Cruz.

LCAR began supporting Habitat for Humanity in the 1990’s and its support has been growing every year. “The event has become so popular that it sold out weeks in advance this year,” said Amy Dellinger, co-chair of the event. “To date, the Lebanon County Association of Realtors has contributed more than $175,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County. We support Habitat’s ongoing efforts to help those in need…” Habitat has been the major focus of the organization’s community service for the last several years.

The donation check was presented to Cheryl Hemperly, Public Relations and Development Manager for Habitat for Humanity, at the Lebanon County Association of Realtors meeting this month. “As realtors, you are helping our community every day, aligning our neighbors in buying and selling their homes. But today, you have done so much more. This check will help Habitat to partner with local families in need and it will change lives,” stated Hemperly after accepting the check on behalf of Habitat.

Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County is a non-denominational, ecumenical, Christian ministry that works in partnership with the community to build decent, affordable houses. Habitat was established in Lebanon County in 1990 and has provided housing for more than
120 people since its inception.
