Doane Academy is excited to announce the appointment of Jenna Altomare as Head Coach of Varsity Girls' Basketball, and Christopher Updike as Head Coach of Varsity Boys' Soccer.

Jenna Altomare, who earned her Master's Degree in Education at Cedar Crest College while serving as an Assistant Basketball Coach there, brings an impressive background in both academics and athletics. Altomare received her Bachelor of Science Degree, summa cum laude, in Leisure and Sports Studies from Kutztown University. She was a two-year starter as a guard for Kutztown and holds school records for most three-pointers in a game, season, and career. In her junior year, Altomare was the recipient of the Kutztown Women's Basketball Coaches' Award.  Altomare was a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a member of the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Organization Scholar-Athlete team, and a recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.

"I am so excited to join the family at Doane Academy as the Head Girls' Basketball Coach,"
Ms. Altomore stated.  "I can't wait to give back to the game that I am so passionate about through teaching, mentoring, and leading a team who has so much potential."

Christopher Updike comes to Doane with ten years of experience as the President and Director of Coaching at the Burlington County Soccer Academy (BCSA) where he coaches and oversees competitive teams and programs for approximately 250 youth soccer players between the ages of 6 and 18. Updike also served for three years as an Assistant Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Holy Cross Academy where he created a player development training program. While at Holy Cross, Mr. Updike also served as the Junior Varsity game day Head Coach.

Mr. Updike expressed, "I'm thankful and excited for the opportunity to take over the team at Doane.  Last year the boys had much success with a 12-3 record, and we want to build on that.  This year we will face stiffer competition as we enter the BCSL for the first time to play some of the best high school programs in the area.  I look forward to these challenges and, supported by a great administration, I know that our team will rise to the occasion as we look to play quick-paced, possession-oriented soccer.  I can't wait to get started!"

"We are excited to be welcoming these two accomplished coaches to our team at Doane," observed Dan Williamson, Director of Athletics. "Our scholar athletes look forward to benefiting from the leadership of Ms. Altomare and Mr. Updike this coming year."
