Virtua will officially launch its new Pediatric Mobile Services Unit which will bring much needed pediatric services to children via a mobile van. This program will allow Virtua’s pediatric specialists to travel in the van to provide care to children from infancy to 5 years of age in areas with the greatest need across South Jersey. The services will include developmental screenings, dental screenings and oral health education, flu shots, lead poisoning education and screening information, community resources and referrals to specialists. The new program will be piloted in the City of Camden but will eventually serve children living in medically underserved and impoverished urban and rural communities across Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties.

Without access to routine exams and screenings, children in underserved communities can experience acute and chronic illness and developmental delays.  The Pediatric Mobile Services Unit will bring a variety of pediatric services and screenings directly to the communities to reach as many children as possible.

The Joseph Lacroce Foundation, founded by philanthropist Sam Lacroce, has donated $1million to Virtua Foundation to fund the Pediatric Mobile Services Unit. Mr. Lacroce has been an avid supporter of Virtua for many years through his annual Carz N’ Toyz Toy Drive for hospitalized children and various other fundraisers.  Mr. Lacroce will be honored by Virtua President & CEO Dennis Pullin at the event.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our friends at the Joseph Lacroce Foundation,” said Dennis W. Pullin, president and CEO of Virtua. “Because of their generosity today and throughout the years, Virtua is transforming care for children in our community.”
