City of Ridgeland Collecting Donations for Hurricane Harvey Clean-Up
Ridgeland, MS
08/30/2017 03:28 PM
The City of Ridgeland seeks to encourage its citizens and community organizations to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and associated flooding in Texas. The City of Ridgeland recently learned of the City of Pascagoula’s adoption of League City, Texas in Galveston County to aid that community in cleaning up after the flood waters subside. Pascagoula’s efforts include the collection and donation of supplies and cleaning products from their community.
Ridgeland has decided to help with this coordinated effort by one of Mississippi’s Gulf Coast cities. According to a news release from the City of Pascagoula dated August 24, 2017, the City of Pascagoula is paying the generosity forward that was extended to their community in the wake of Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago. Cities from across the nation helped citizens of Pascagoula to clean up and rebuild their lives.
The City of Ridgeland will be collecting donations at drop-off locations throughout the city. These donations will be delivered to Pascagoula on Thursday, Sept. 7 in order to be delivered along with their community’s donations to League City, Texas.

Regarding other ways to help people affected Hurricane Harvey, the City of Ridgeland recommends that its citizens follow what the experts are saying to do at this time which is to donate cash to a reputable organization such as The Salvation Army or American Red Cross. Needs for donations will be long-term so saving a portion of your contributions for the months to come is also advisable.
