Last year’s award was presented to Wendy Evans, who was cited as a ‘voice for arts education.” A special lifetime achievement award was presented to Joyce LaBan, for her indefatigable efforts moving the arts forward. Past award winners have included musicians, philanthropists, writers, sculptors, teachers, photographers, and volunteers.

A jury of more than a dozen arts enthusiasts from the community will select the winner on the basis of the nominations. Link Wachler, the jewelry designer of Life Links, will again create the award which will be presented to the honoree at a reception at the BBAC on September 25 at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. The honorees’ names will also be inscribed on a perpetual Cultural Arts Award plaque at Birmingham City Hall.
