Myers Installed as Associate Chaplain

Deacon Donald Myers of Westminster was officially installed as the Associate Chaplain at Carroll Lutheran Village on Sunday, May 7 by the Rev. William Gohl, Bishop of the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). 

Myers was called to service as Associate Chaplain in October 2016 after earning a Master of Arts degree in ministerial studies with a concentration in pastoral care from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.  He was consecrated as a Deacon in the ELCA on October 23, 2016. In addition to ministering to Village residents and assisting with worship services, Myers has developed a music program to include a Festival Choir and is coordinating Stephen Ministers on campus.

Myers is a former music educator and local business owner. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and taught instrumental music in Carroll County Public Schools for several years before becoming manager and co-owner of Stu’s Music Shop in Westminster at the age of 24. The business was sold in 2013.

Carroll Lutheran Village is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Westminster that includes 398 homes and apartments, 50 assisted living suites in the Diven House and 103 skilled nursing beds in the Health Care Center
