It’s just a jump to the left….and then a step to the right.  With your hands on your hips, you bring your knees in tight…

The Carroll Arts Center will be hosting its popular annual screening of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” with two showings on Saturday, October 28 at 7:30 pm and 10 pm.  Halloween weekend is the perfect time to don your fishnets and stiletto heels and brush up on your “Time Warp” steps as Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter and his motley crew seduce sweethearts Brad and Janet.

A satirical tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1930s through early 1970s, Rocky Horror initially flopped when it was released in 1975. Still in limited release four decades after its premiere, it has the longest-running theatrical release in film history. Today, the film has a large international cult following and is one of the most well-known and financially successful midnight movies of all time. It was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2005.

The film features a young Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Tim Curry as the transvestite Dr. Frank N. Furter.   The plot begins with the misadventures of Brad Majors (Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Sarandon) as they are stranded on a dark country road with a flat tire during a downpour.  The fun begins once they knock on the door of a creepy mansion hoping to use the phone.  Instead, they find infidelity, love, hate, murder, music, mayhem and a rather kinky cast of characters.

Beginning 15 minutes before each screening, the audience will get a refresher course on the steps to the "Time Warp" dance and prizes will be given for the best costumes. Special pre-packaged ‘audience interaction kits’ can be ordered in advance for $5 and picked up at the door. The kits contain all the props needed to "prop”erly interact with the movie, and a card explaining when to use them.   Please note that outside props will not be permitted.

The film is rated R and runs 100 minutes. Tickets are $16 for adults; $14 for ages 25 & under and ages 60 & up. CCAC Members get additional 10% off.  Patron Passes will not be accepted. Tickets can be purchased in advance with a major credit card by calling 410/848-7272 or on-line at www.CarrollCountyArtsCouncil.org.  The Carroll Arts Center is located at 91 West Main Street in downtown Westminster.
