CPC Hosts Dragon Boat Festival on June 14-15

(Little Rock, AR  -- June 10, 2019)   Come join the fun at one of the most exciting events on water, the 2019 River Cities Dragon Boat Festival, benefiting Children’s Protection Center on June 14 – 15th, 2019 at Lake Willastein in Maumelle, AR.

The River Cities Dragon Boat Festival is a two-day celebration that starts with set up and a kick-off party on June 14th and culminates with a full day of racing.  At the Friday evening Kick-Off Party, sponsored by USBank, there will be music, games, team practices and more planned from 6-9 pm followed by jaw-dropping fireworks.

Excitement continues on Saturday, June 15th, as teams compete for the champion title in the seventh annual dragon boat competition. Folks who have never witnessed dragon boat racing are in for a treat when the drummer at the helm of the boat sets the pace as 20-member teams heave in time with paddles propelling the 46-foot-long dragon boats towards the finish line. It’s a lively atmosphere with tailgating, food trucks, children’s activities, the cheering of the crowd, and multiple brightly colored dragon-scaled boats neck and neck in fierce pursuit of the finish line… all for a great cause.  More information about the event can be found at www.rivercitiesdragonboatfestival.com.

Children’s Protection Center is a non-profit, child advocacy and safety center serving all Pulaski County children, families and professionals working to end child abuse.  Team registration for the event is closed, but the festival is open to spectators at no cost. Food trucks are available Friday and Saturday night, as well as activities for children. For more information about Children's Protection Center, go to www.childrensprotectioncenter.org
