Chamber Makes Presentation to Ridgeland PD
Ridgeland, MS

Ridgeland Chamber President Chase Bryan of the Young Wells Williams law firm presented Mayor Gene McGee and Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal with a certificate for (12) VISA/MasterCard gift cards to be used for OFFICER OF THE MONTH recognition.  These gift cards are valued at $100 each and were donated by Chamber Board members. We want to continue this tradition of helping the City recognize our deserving officers by sponsoring (12) Officer of the Month VISA/MasterCard gift cards again this year.
Also, a certificate for (12) pairs of running shoes to be used for OFFICER of the MONTH recognition and generously donated by Lesley Holleman at Fleet Feet was presented.
National Law Enforcement Week was held May 9 - 14.  The week-long celebration - honoring our Men and Women in Blue and thanking them for the tremendous job they do 24/7 in keeping our homes and businesses safe was a tremendous success.
We began the week by wearing blue lapel ribbons, followed by a beautiful and moving Day of Remembrance honoring Fallen Officers nationwide.
During the week, breakfasts, lunches and dinners were delivered to the Police Department.  We celebrated at CC’s Coffee House on Friday when they hosted Coffee With A Cop and continued with our celebration that afternoon with a cake and ice cream party and goodie bags jammed full of the best treats and items you can imagine.
We also asked Chief Neal for a “Wish List” and heading that list was a Refrigerated Drinking Fountain with Bottle Filler to be installed at the departments’ Employee Wellness Center.  It should come as no surprise to anyone that Samantha and Joel Lofton of Barnett’s Body Shop on Highway 51 immediately answered our call and pledged $979 to purchase the fountain.  We are most grateful to Samantha and Joel and the entire Barnett’s Body Shop family for this most gracious gift.
May 9 - 14 was a whirlwind week of activities and events and we thank you, Chief Neal and your officers, each and every one, for your deep commitment - “To Protect and To Serve”.
