CEO Matt Russell of Cynerge Consulting named to Small Business Association of Michigan Board of Directors
SBAM appoints Matt Russell of Cynerge Consulting to its 2022-2023 Board of Directors

A frequent collaborator in the past, this will be Matt Russell’s first term as a Director of the Small Business Association of Michigan, along with 22 other small business leaders from around the state. Honored by his appointment, when asked, Mr. Russell emphasized his “. . . commitment and dedication to making a strong, stable company that shows what can be done in Pontiac and in Michigan!”
The Small Business Association of Michigan focuses solely on serving the needs of Michigan’s small business community through advocacy, collaboration, and buying power. Today they serve over 30,000 members in all 83 counties of Michigan. SBAM is located in Lansing, just one block from the Capitol.
“We are lucky to have such tremendous small business leaders like Matt Russell guiding our work to ensure that Michigan is a great place to own and operate a small business,” said SBAM President and CEO Brian Calley. “SBAM has been proudly delivering solutions to Michigan small business owners for more than 50 years and I’m confident that success will continue under this leadership.”
This appointment comes on the heels of Cynerge Consulting’s recent win as one of “Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch” at the annual SBAM Gala during the first quarter of the year. Despite pandemic-related and economic setbacks nationwide, Cynerge has grown exponentially in its own right, as well as through its sister company, LocalHop and recent acquisition, Kalpa. Mr. Russell also serves on the board of non-profit organization, Main Street Pontiac, and frequently hosts local events in Cynerge’s historic office building in downtown Pontiac.
