PONTIAC, Mich. – Cynerge Consulting, a Michigan-based IT consultancy providing digital products and
business solutions that improve operations, services, and delivery of enterprise software, announced it
has been awarded with a one-year, $4 million contract with the U.S. Forest Service’s (USFS) Chief
Information Office (CIO). Cynerge will provide cloud operations and maintenance (O&M) services for CIO
datacenters as it continues a large-scale cloud migration and digital transformation. This effort includes
managing, modernizing, and transforming hosting and application support services.

The contract was awarded as a small business set-aside, leveraging Cynerge’s position as a HUBZonecertified
company. HUBZone is a Small Business Association (SBA) program that recognizes companies
that operate and employ talent in Historically Under-utilized Business Zones (HUBZones). Each year, 3%
of all federal spending is mandated to be spent with HUBZone firms. Cynerge is headquartered in
downtown Pontiac, Mich. and more than 35% of its employees reside in HUBZones.

The contract represents Cynerge’s first prime contract opportunity with the federal government. The
focus of the contract will be expanding a pilot program for cloud migration to include a portfolio of more
than 80 applications with goals of increased frequency of deployments, improved resiliency and
availability of services, reduced costs, and enhanced security.

“This award is a tremendous achievement on a couple levels,” said Cynerge Consulting Founder,
President, and CEO Matt Russell. “First, this opportunity isn’t possible without our team and all the
dedication and exceptional work they’ve been delivering on behalf of the Forest Service for more than a
decade.

“As a team, we set a goal this year to earn our first prime contract. I’m proud to say we’ve met that goal.
I’m proud, too, of our HUBZone participation and what an award like this means for not only our
business, but for cities like Pontiac.”

Cynerge has been a longtime federal subcontractor, including the last 14+ years providing agile software
development, cloud computing, IT asset management, and DevOps-oriented digital transformation
services to the USFS. At more than $4 million in value, the contract represents substantial revenue and
team growth for Cynerge, which will be aggressively recruiting and hiring in the coming weeks around
cloud computing and enterprise IT operations.

Established in 1905, the USFS employs more than 42,000 people and is responsible for managing more
than 193 million acres of the nation’s forests and grasslands. The CIO is the Information Technology (IT)

Cynerge Consulting, Inc. | 31 N. Saginaw Street | Pontiac, MI 48342
support branch of the USFS, with OSD providing the agency’s IT infrastructure, including hosting support
services and enterprise operations.

For more than 16 years, Cynerge has helped clients in the private and federal sectors design and develop
digital products and business solutions that improve operations and services. From application
development to IT asset management, cloud computing, and DevOps-oriented transformation, we help
improve the speed and quality of delivering enterprise software.

Possible angles to consider for coverage:
• Small Business Profile: Cynerge Consulting is a small business experiencing rapid growth in your
coverage area. Cynerge also has a sister brand, LocalHop, which provides community
engagement and event management solutions. Both companies are owned and operated by
Cynerge President and CEO, Matt Russell.
• HUBZone Awareness: Cynerge’s HUBZone participation is designed to provide economic
assistance and stimulus to economically-depressed or underutilized geographic areas through
the award of federal contracts. Other local or area businesses may benefit from more awareness
around HUBZone and similar small business programs.
• Community Focus: In addition to its HUBZone designation, Cynerge is active in the local
community. This includes building a better Pontiac and beyond through our active involvement
and participation in groups like Main Street Pontiac and the Small Business Association of
Michigan (SBAM).
• Hiring and Employment Opportunities: Cynerge will be aggressively recruiting and hiring,
including seeking employees located in HUBZones. We have a near-zero turnover rate, as well as
a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes unlimited PTO and support for
remote work. Our office is located in historic downtown Pontiac and offers an attached
restaurant and café.
• Technology Trends and Best Practices: With more than 14 years’ experience as a federal
subcontractor providing IT consulting, software development, and digital transformation
services, Cynerge would make for a credible source as it relates to technology trends and best
practices or localizing technology news.
