Description:  

Position Overview:

Performs a wide range of accounting tasks to support the Business Manager. Creates, updates and maintains Excel spreadsheets, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions. Inputs financial transactions into various software programs. Assists with special projects as needed.                                    

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

=       Assist with month-end close process including but not limited to creating/posting journal entries and maintaining reconciliations for balance sheet accounts

=       Create, update, and maintain various Excel spreadsheets (i.e. sales, sales tax, prepaids, payroll, fixed assets, etc.)

=       Process invoices and assist with weekly check run process

=       Enter financial transactions into various software programs

=       Prepare bank deposits

=       Assist with month-end reconciliations of sales and bank accounts

=       Investigate and resolve variances

=       Provide assistance with processing bi-weekly payroll (process time sheets and enter data into payroll software)

=       Compile reports/data for month-end close, fiscal year-end audit, annual budget, and miscellaneous projects that arise

Description:  

The Development Director is a full-time, year-round, salaried position, and an integral member of the management team at an accredited Museum with an incomparable early colonial collection and a nearly 200 year record of institutional success. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, they are responsible for developing strategies to achieve fundraising goals for individual and institutional giving, planning and implementing all fundraising and patron cultivation activities, and growing the Society’s development program at an exciting time as Plymouth commemorates its 400th anniversary. They oversee a wide and ongoing range of operational development, marketing, and membership activities, and help set marketing strategy to increase institutional engagement at all levels, working both independently and in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Development Committee, and subcommittees. They supervise a PT Group Tour & Marketing Manager and PT Development Administrative Assistant.

The Development Director will identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to secure donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations through leadership gifts, sponsored gifts, annual appeals, memberships, and special events, and oversee all membership activities. They oversee patron management tracking, major gift cultivation and solicitations, and development writing. Responsibilities include coordinating annual fundraising; managing special events; developing strategies to meet or exceed budgeted revenue goals; and working to ensure cultivation and stewardship of all philanthropic constituents. They maintain productive and timely donor communications; utilize the donor database to track development revenue and ensure accurate and comprehensive donor records; prepare regular reports on donor activities; and assist in grant research, proposal, and grant writing. They build and maintain strong relationships with individuals, organizational partners/sponsors, corporations, foundations and other major donors, and constructively engage the Museum's many stakeholders, including members, Trustees, volunteers, and the Plymouth community.

Requirements:  
Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least 5 years experience in development; superior written and oral communication skills as well as excellent research skills; organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; knowledge of regional and local philanthropic community; proficiency in Excel, Word, and fundraising databases. Capital and/or endowment campaign experience preferred; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
