Position Purpose
The Plant Manager II is responsible for providing operational leadership and obtaining results in all areas at the manufacturing site.  Provide Customer Solutions; achieve EHS and operational excellence; lead and coach operations team; ensure product quality; P & L Accountability; capital expenditures, manufacturing costs and operating efficiencies.  Serves as main point of contact within the community for public relations, labor issues, tax issues, and community affairs.The Plant Manager is the leader of the local organization and has the responsibility for developing a culture in which employees are actively engaged in the business.

The Dalhart facility produces and provides just in time deliveries of branded high moisture cattle feed to dairies and feed yards in a 300 mile area.  Plant operates 24/7 with 35 full time Cargill employees and up to 15 contractors.  Current demand is 160 loads a day with capacity to do over 200.  Complexity of the plant includes making 30 ton batches with 40 different ingredients making 20 different product.  Facility receives and offloads up to 50 rails and 20 trucks a day.  Facility is currently going through a 10 million dollar expansion for ability to increase diversity of product offerings.  

Principal Accountabilities 
35% Operational Excellence:  operations management including product quality; maintenance reliability & energy management; innovation, efficiencies & best practices.   

20% Project management, capital planning, P & L:  business compliance; develop & meet budgets, develop capital spending requests & project management; aggressively & proactively manage operating expenses.   Oversee and direct key projects and initiatives. Ensure capital projects are completed on time and within budget.  

20% Customer Solutions & Innovation:  Focus on continuous improvement and process management and cost efficiencies to support positive customer experiences.

15% Leadership:  coaching, performance management, engagement.  Continue efforts to build high performing team; engage all employees; implementation of BU strategy; people development, champion recognition; collaborate effectively with experience teams and disciplines.  Role Model and ensure compliance to laws, regulations and company policies.  Serve as the Cargill representative within the community

5% EHS Leadership:  ensure compliance and commitment to policies, procedures, and regulations.  Provide direction, coaching, support to BBS & Wellness.  

5% Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 
Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 10+ year’s of experience with plant processes, operations and management.
  • Business acumen as it relates to sales, marketing, and financial decision-making.
  • Extensive knowledge of general business functions: Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and Sales.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and people skills.
  • Significant experience and/or exposure to multiple manufacturing locations as well as in multiple functions and/or processing departments.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and discipline.
  • Leadership: A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively both verbal and written within multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to promote and work within an inclusive environment.

Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ year’s of experience with plant processes, operations and management, in multiple functions, sites and/or processing departments.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with ambiguity and delivering desired or improving results out of that ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated examples of significant change leadership.
  • Demonstrated examples of tangible culture development within a large complex organization and measures that provide evidence of that cultural development.
  • Demonstrated examples of building diverse teams and developing individuals for their personal growth and promotion.
  • Direct Customer interaction and managing branded product production
  • Feed Mill operations management experience
