CLASS TITLE: Recreation Facility Membership Coordinator
PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for
building and sustaining membership growth at the Muskogee Swim and Fitness
Center. The Recreation Facility
Membership Coordinator directs all member sales and retention for the Swim and
Fitness Center as well as leads/supervises the staff and front desk operations
and scheduling activities as well as customer relations.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Direct
membership operations and staff members in invoicing, drafting, billing,
collections, credits, member letters and other back office and front desk
operations, sales and retention activities.

Internal and
external promotion of Swim and Fitness Center to enhance membership
participation, retention and recruitment.
=
Provides,
directs or ensures timely communications to members and program participants
via phone, websites, bulletin boards, newsletters, emails, signage and other
necessary means of communication.
=
Develop and
implement strategies and tactics to meet or exceed total budgeted membership
revenues and monitor expenses as required.
=
Develop,
model and integrate systems and practices that encourage and sustain
outstanding member satisfaction and high member retention; develop and
implement fitness incentive programs and services for the purpose of membership
recruitment and retention.

Hire,
supervise, mentor, coach, schedule and train direct reports to achieve
professional development goals. Schedule
staff as necessary to cover front desk operations and customer relations at
Swim and Fitness Center.

Support
front desk operations as needed, including but not limited to answering phones,
giving tours and directing patrons.
=
Inventory
office supplies and pro-shop items and make purchases.
=
Develop and
maintain reports of membership activities and programs.
=
Operates office equipment such as fax machines,
copiers and phone systems and uses computers for spreadsheets, word processing,
database management and other applications; learns to operate new office technologies
as they are developed and implemented.

Performs other work as necessary and or as
assigned.
=
Must report to
work on a regular and timely basis.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Recreation Facility Membership
Coordinator reports directly to the Recreation Facility Manager.
The Recreation Facility Membership
Coordinator oversees the work of the Front Desk Attendants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business, management, marketing, health promotion or recreation with one (1) year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Considerable
knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning and administration; considerable
knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a
comprehensive community recreation program; ability to coordinate varied
activities involved in a community recreation facility; ability to establish
and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other
agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders and the general public;
ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

sufficient to perform essential tasks. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is
essential. Must submit to drug
screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of
a valid Oklahoma Class D driver’s license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors in a
fitness/aquatic facility. The employee
is exposed to hot, wet and humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Requires ability to work nights, weekends and
holidays as scheduled.
STARTING PAY: $15.30/hr. Excellent employee benefits (insurance,

WORK HOURS: Hours vary
according to job requirements. Requires
ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Occasional overtime and flexing of schedule required.
WORK LOCATION: City of
Muskogee Parks and Recreation Department, Recreation Division, Muskogee Swim
and Fitness Center, 566 North 6th Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
