Press Night & Student Night for Young Frankenstein is scheduled for Thursday, October 25, 2018. Doors will open at 7:00pm and the show will begin at 7:30pm. The director, technical crew, and actors will be available for interviews and photos after the performance. There is no need to RSVP and seating will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please share the details on Press Night with other members within your office.

Guest artist for the next Java Jam, Friday, October 26, 6-9 pm, at Milam Street Coffee is a retired Marine Corps combat Major returned to his roots. Austin-based and Amarillo-born, Chuck Hawthorne's experiences working cattle on the High Plains and traveling the world in the US Marine Corps shaped much of the subject matter of the songs on his debut album Silver Line. The album received critical acclaim across the US and Europe and landed on the best of the year lists for many noted publications, including The Telegraph (UK), The Alternate Root, The Troubadour Show, and John Conquest’s Freeform American Roots Awards.

Chuck’s songs have caught the attention of the songwriting community, earning Chuck a reputation as a “songwriter’s songwriter.” He’s been called “a workingman’s songwriter” by Gurf Morlix, and “one of the best songwriters I’ve heard in 20 or 30 years” by Michael Martin Murphey. Richard Dobson says “I figured Chuck Hawthorne was the right stuff when I saw him shut down a crowd of rowdies one night with just him and a guitar. He plays it, writes it, and sings it.” Silver Line producer and Juno Award winning songwriter Ray Bonneville says, “Chuck Hawthorne was a combat soldier with the heart of a true poet. I think that is rare and what sets him apart….He’s got some salt on him.”

Wharton Serves 2018 brings new opportunities to serve the Wharton community!

Wharton Serves was initiated last year as a response to the needs of the community.

Approximately 60-75 participants volunteered their God-given time, treasures, and talents to work at eight different sites throughout the city of Wharton.

We hope this year draws more participants. We will be updating this event with more information and ways to sign up and get involved.
