Do Well Be Well with Diabetes
Do Well Be Well with Diabetes is a program for people with type 2 diabetes. The classes will be held: April 19, 26, May 3, 17 and 24. 12:00 noon to 1:15 p.m. Bring a lunch and come learn.
Sessions will cover:
1 Getting Started: How Food Affects Your Blood Glucose
2. Are you eating the Right Number of Carbohydrates?
3. Beyond the Diet: Improving Your Blood Glucose Control with Physical Activity
4. Beyond Diet and Physical Activity: Improving Your Blood Glucose Control with Medication.
5. Celebrating Diabetes Control While Avoiding Complications.
Cost is $10.00 per person for the series.

The April meeting will be our annual Comfort Quilt Sew In. We will be making quilts to donate to community organizations such as CASA, the Weatherford Police Deptment, Center of Hope, Grace House, Habitat for Humanity and many more.
There will be plenty for everyone to do. We need cutters, ironers, and pinners as will as people to sew.

Join us for a night of jazz and big band music as we continue our 20th anniversary celebration of the Alkek Fine Arts Center.

Co-leaders Steve Howard (trumpet) and Mike Sizer (clarinet/sax), the driving force behind the group, are joined by Bobby Breaux on drums, Carl Hillman on bass, Brian Piper on piano/vocals and Ken George on trombone. The band performs a variety of New Orleans styles including traditional Dixieland, Louie Prima style and New Orleans R&B funk, as well as their own original songs.Members of the group have worked with numerous artists including Dr. John, The Dukes of Dixieland, Ray Charles, Allen Toussaint, Patti Labelle, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain, Ellis Marsalis, Woody Herman and Cab Calloway. The Gumbo Kings have recorded three albums, with their second recording featuring special guest and long-time friend Dr. John on vocals. It has been said that listening to the Gumbo Kings is like a trip down Bourbon Street without the bad smells.
