Help us celebrate the arrival of a long-awaited spring season in the gardens at our annual “Spring Fling”! This popular event features music, food, area artists and craftsman.

Every year, our list of talented participating artists and vendors grows, and this year will be no exception. The gardens will be loaded with talented people displaying, demonstrating and selling their unique arts and crafts.

So, come on out and see the gardens in full bloom and bring your camera for a special family photo or two!

As we grow and expand this popular event every year, we’re always looking for new and talented artists and craftsmen to come join in on the celebration and display/sell your goods to the public. This event is FREE (YES, FREE!) to all vendors. We are opening the gates at 9am for vendor set up and allowing to 5pm for vendor break down. After investigating the evidence for Jesus’ claims, Strobel became a Christian in 1981. The film, The Case for Christ, is a portrayal of Strobel’s spiritual journey from atheism to faith. Starring Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway, the film debuted in theaters nationwide in April 2017, garnering a rare A+ from Cinemascore.  

In addition to Strobel, the Legacy Dinner will celebrate Trinity Christian Academy’s twenty-fifth anniversary. TCA Head of School Mike Skaggs said, “All of us at TCA look forward to celebrating this important milestone in the life of our school with friends and family from across our area.” The evening begins at 6:00 and includes dinner, live and silent auctions, and proclamations from the City of Willow Park and the state of Texas. 

Given the popularity of the film and Strobel's books among the strong Christian presence in Parker County, TCA invites the community to join in this inspirational evening. Sponsorships are available starting at $1,000 with individual tickets going on sale in early 2018. 

Strobel serves as Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University and as a Teaching Pastor at Woodlands Church. His latest book is The Case for Grace, which received the 2016 Christian Book Award for Nonfiction. Strobel also co-authored Becoming a Contagious Christian, a course which has trained a million-and-a-half Christians on how to naturally and effectively talk with others about Jesus.

The American Songbook: Known as standards, they are the canons of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century. Composers represented include George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Billy Strayhorn, Hoagy Carmichael, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern, just to name a few. Selections will be performed by Rob Laney, Rick Rainey, Dr. Hyeyoung Song and Miss Sandra Kaye.

Vocalist Sandra Kaye has moved in many musical directions, from jazz, R&B to jingles for radio and TV. She has performed throughout the US and internationally in Japan, China, France, Greece, Spain and other countries across the globe. Bessie Smith, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughn, and Rosemary Clooney are some of her favorite singers. After hearing all these great singers she knew that she was destined to sing the music from the Great American Song Book. Sandra was recognized in 2016 as the Sammons (Dallas) Jazz Artist of the Year.

            Parker County Extension Education Association invites all men and women in Parker County to Spring Fling on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Couts United Methodist Church, located at 802 North Elm Street in Weatherford. This will be a day of education, personal development and fun.

            Speakers for the event will include: Jamie Bodiford speaking on the History of Chandor Gardens; Valerie Johnson on Balance Therapy; Wallbuilders, Presenting America’s forgotten history; Master Gardener Jerry Parr on Roses. There will be special music by Lee and Gloria West. There will include lunch that will be served from 12:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will also be door prizes, silent auction and more.

            Tickets are $12.00 per person and may be purchased from Parker County Extension club members and through the Texas AgriLife Extension office in Parker County. For more information about Spring Fling call 817-598-6168.
