San Marcos Heritage Home Tour Featuring Kissing Tree

The 42nd annual event takes place on May 4-7 and includes several events throughout the weekend. This year’s theme focuses on the magic of interior design.

Thursday, May 4

Weekend Preview

To kick off the festivities, the Heritage Association will host a preview of the weekend on Thursday, May 4, in Kissing Tree’s Model Home Park with food, music and entertainment by professional magicians and comedians from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets may be purchased for the preview event along with the Heritage Home Tour.

Friday, May 5

Magical History Tour and Open House

On Friday, May 5, guests can explore the town and the river, including a “Magical History Tour” of downtown San Marcos from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are commercial and historic sites of interest to both visitors and longtime residents, including puzzles to solve and an art gallery reception in the afternoon.

Kissing Tree will also host a free open house on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with live music from 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, May 6 - 7

Heritage Home Tour

Saturday and Sunday’s historic district home tour and designer showcase will be open from noon to 5 p.m. This tour includes eight historic and modern homes throughout San Marcos. Kissing Tree’s Clarkson model is one of seven featured homes on the tour, and guests will have the opportunity to gather tips and tricks for interior design from Millennium Designs—the interior designer of all the Kissing Tree model homes.

Candle Workshop!

Sunday, May 7 from 2 to 3:30pm

Paint your own unique candle holder & we’ll fill it with an all-natural, soy candle with the scent of your choice!  Choose either a candle cup or large decorative vessel, design & paint however you desire, then select from 8 different yummy scents.  These personalized candles make fantastic mother’s day gifts (hint, hint!)

Cost: $20 for candle cup (pictured on left) or $30 for large vessel (right).  Includes pottery, glazing, firing, and candle!

Harmony Place is a respite program for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

We provide a safe, loving, respectful, and fun place for loved ones while their caregivers have the opportunity to rest, run errands, and have time to themselves.

Lunch is provided as well as fun activities, laughter, and loving care. There is no cost to participants. 

Harmony Place is held every Thursday from 9:30-1:30. 

Katherine Anne Porter School's 17th Annual Java Jive community music fest! This year we are hosting a grassroots event that will feature a few of our very own KAPS alumni bands and special guests including The Bottom Dollar String Band.  

We will put the JAVA back in Java Jive and will feature coffee from local vendors including SIP, D's Roastery and more! Please come out and support KAPS! We are encouraging our students and families to bring friends from outside KAPS to attend this fun-filled evening. We are recruiting new students to attend our beautiful, creative and welcoming school and invite all prospective students to attend the event for free!

Storytime Art, or StArt! is a great opportunity for your young child to experience art! Storytimes are geared to the 3 – 5 year old preschooler, but some projects could easily translate into a Mommy and Me project for those a little younger. And, of course, anyone older is welcome, as well! Storytimes always include at least one book and a related art project, but often include surprises like songs, poems, and coloring pages.

Cost is $12 per child, or buy a punch-card and get 6 classes for $60!

We will be celebrating Roxanne's House 20th Anniversary (HCWC's Children's Advocacy Center). All proceeds go to provide services to victims of abuse.
