During his second tour he commanded a joint contingent in MIA resolution operations. He is well known for his heroic role in the evacuation of Saigon in April of 1975 at the close of the Viet Nam War. Then Captain Wood organized a group of American civilian volunteers who assumed great personal risk to remain without protection and evacuate over 5,000 persons from the collapsing capital

Later, as Chief of Staff of Marine Forces in the Pacific, Colonel Wood journeyed to Vladivostok and Khabarovsk in Siberia charged with negotiating a tension reduction agreement with the senior leadership of the Russian Pacific Fleet and the Russian Far East Military District. Newcomer Friends of Greater Plano- Monthly Program Meeting

Program:  “Higher, Swifter, Stronger.”  Neal Jeffrey, former All-American quarterback at Baylor University and quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, learned the meaning of overcoming obstacles early in life.  A stutterer since childhood, Neal had to learn to, “get through what he couldn’t get over,” to achieve his lifelong dreams.  Today, he is one of the most sought after and engaging motivational speakers in America.  He realized that as a stutterer, he could encourage and inspire others because we all struggle with something.  As the quarterback that led the Baylor Bears to their first Southwest Conference Championship in 50 years, Neal brings a level of enthusiasm and passion to every presentation that is rarely seen anywhere.  He is the author of a new book, If I Can, Y-Y-You Can!:  Giving All You’ve Got to Become All You Can Be, and a long term associate pastor of the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.

Attendance:  All women in the North Texas Area
