Shenandoah at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center

Shenandoah at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center
When country music lovers talk about the greatest groups in the genre, Shenandoah is always at the forefront of any discussion. Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road,” “Next to You, Next to Me,” and achingly beautiful classics such as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy®  winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss.

Shenandoah has left a potent legacy at country radio with such enduring hits as “Ghost in This House,” “Rock My Baby,” “Janie Baker’s Love Slave,” “If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too),” and “Her Leavin’s Been a Long Time Comin.” Shenandoah recorded 9 studio albums and placed 26 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Tim Hawkins at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center

Tim Hawkins at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center
Since giving up his job as a grocery truck driver in 2002, Tim Hawkins has been establishing himself as one of the most in-demand comedians in the country. With 300,000,000 video views online and over 100 sold-out concerts every year, his Jackwagon Crew has grown into a revolution of multi-generational proportions.

Tim’s gut-busting comedy show entertains the entire family while doubling down on the funny, a daunting task in an age where the obscene has become routine. His act is 1 part gifted + 2 parts twisted, the only certainty being his on-the-nose observations that expose the ridiculousness of daily life while marveling in its hilarity. The perils of marriage, homeschooling, and growing up in the Midwest may not exemplify the rock star life, but they make for really good punchlines.

Sure he’s funny, but fans are often even more amazed at his singing voice and guitar chops. Tim’s hilarious music videos have brought him viral YouTube fame with fan favorites including “The Chick-fil-A Song,” “Yoga Pants,” “Aging Rockers,” “Things You Don’t Say to Your Wife,” “Cletus Take the Reel,” “A Homeschool Family,” and “The Government Can.” Still, Tim is no rock star: “It’s not like I have a choice. Comedy is my only life skill.”

Red Nose Day Celebration and Summer Feeding Kick-Off

Red Nose Day is an organization devoted to ending childhood poverty. On May 24th, the whole country will unite with their sparkly red noses to raise money and awareness for childhood poverty.

One of the biggest issues for children living in poverty is access to nutritious food when they are not at school to receive breakfast and lunch. Second Harvest is helping bridge that gap with our Summer Food Service Program. We provide meals to students during the summer months to help supplement the meals they will not get while they are out of school for the summer. We are tying Red Nose Day into an event at the food bank to get things ready to begin serving the children for the Summer Food Service Program.

This is a wonderful way to volunteer at the food bank and help support our programs as well as the Red Nose Day project. We will have noses, bracelets, and pens available on site for purchase and we will have some fun photo opportunities as well so that you can show your friends/family/co-workers that you are supporting two causes with focuses on helping children!

When:
Thursday, May 24, 2018 10:00 AM thru 01:00 PM
Where:

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee
