Topic: TIPS FOR USING QUICKBOOKS

Who Should Attend:
•  Home-based and Small business owners who are members of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.
•  Other area home-based business owners (Non-Chamber member home-based business owners are invited to attend one Roundtable meeting and are then welcomed to attend future meetings once they become a member of the Chamber).
•  Any other Chamber member small business owners interested in attending.
•  Attendance: Is limited to 30 people on a first-come basis.

Cost: Free to attend.

The Roundtables are informal in nature, and attendees are invited to bring their own lunch to the meetings. Coffee, soda and water are provided by the Chamber.

"Common Core Standards" - The latest proposal to create uniform national academic standards

David Patti - President, Pennsylvania Business Control

Michael Murphy - Assistant to the Superintendent, Lebanon School District

Topic to be discussed:
Proposed "Common Core Standards" could have a major effect on what students will learn and possibly also on the tests that measure their progress. This effort at creating uniform academic standards stringent enough to ensure that students in every state are ready for college or a career is advocated by the Obama administration, with the help from organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The objective is to raise the academic bar nationally and make American students more competitive with those abroad.

Pennsylvania is one of 45 states that has signed on to the Common Core Standards. This spring, the state Board of Education is expected to okay final adoption.
