Lawton, Oklahoma. The Friends of the Lawton Public Library are having their annual Book Sale on Thursday, April 4, from 4 pm – 7 pm; Friday, April 5, from 8 am – 6 pm; Saturday, April 6, from 8 am – 6 pm; and Sunday, April 7, from 12 noon – 4 pm. The sale will take place at 3801 NW Cache Rd.,(between Party City and Big Lots). Friends volunteers are very excited for the space this year. Volunteers already have 600 boxes ready to go. Book lovers have four days to shop. There is no charge to browse and volunteers hope people come back each day to find more goodies. “People wait all year for this sale” said Kristin Herr, Lawton Public Library Director. “We have been getting quite a few phone calls as people know it is coming up”. Herr went on to say that there is quite a selection of adult and kid items. Prices are $0.50 for paperback and $1 for hardbacks unless marked. CDs, DVDs, audio tapes and jigsaw puzzles will also be sold. The book sale could not happen without the hard work of Friends volunteers who sort, box, set up the book sale,
and run the book sale. Volunteers Sally Cote, Chris Horner, and Ken Horner sort and process donated books once a week. Proceeds from the book sale go to the Friends of the Lawton Public Library. The Friends help fund library programs and activities throughout the year. For instance, the Friends sponsor Summer Reading, Chautauqua and Soulful Story. The book sale is the biggest fundraiser for the Friends. For further information, please contact the Lawton Public Library at 580-581.3450.... More >><< Less
