Soulful Story: Discover the Roots of Oklahoma Blues & Jazz

Presented by Dr. Harold Aldridge, Jr. Dr. Aldridge is an emeritus professor of psychology at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where he taught from 1971 to 1997. He will chronicle the rich history of Blues and Jazz with a lecture interwoven with stories and music. The audience will be engaged to take a journey from the genres’ earliest beginnings in to their evolution through slavery and migration to their influences on present day music. The performance will take place Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the City Hall Auditorium, 7:00 PM.  This performance is Free to the public. There will be an optional dinner served prior to the performance beginning at 6:00 PM., in the City Hall Banquet Room. Tickets for the dinner are available at the circulation desk at the Main Library, 110 SW 4th Street and at the Branch location, 1304 NW Kingswood Rd.  Tickets for the dinner are $15.00 each, and are available thru February 18th. All proceeds from ticket sales go to support the program. "This porgram is funded in part by Oklahoma Humanities (OH) and the National endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
