This theme was developed with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The program, Let’s Talk About it, Oklahoma, is a discussion group that comes together for a five-part, scholar-led series. Each scholar opens the program, bringing the book to life, provoking the group’s curiosity with insights and raising questions that spark discussion. All book discussions are held at Cameron University Library every third Thursday of each month at 6pm."Blackberry Winter" an autobiography by Margaret Mead is the last presentation of the five-part, scholar-led series with Dr. William Carney. Margaret Mead, (1901 - 1978) was an American anthropologist whose great fame owed as much to the force of her personality and her outspokenness as it did to the quality of her scientific work. As an anthropologist, Mead was best known for her studies of the nonliterate peoples of Oceania, especially with regard to various aspects of psychology and culture—the cultural conditioning of sexual behaviour, natural character, and culture change. As a celebrity, she was most notable for her forays into such far-ranging topics as women’s rights, child rearing, sexual morality, nuclear proliferation, race relations, drug abuse, population control, environmental pollution, and world hunger." Courtesy source of https://www.britannica.com/biography/Margaret-MeadThese programs are free and open to the public. Please come and join us to learn from these exciting and interesting books and perhaps share your experience and knowledge with other people. Copies of the books may be picked up at the Arts & Humanities Division Office, 801 NW Ferris (west entrance of McMahon Memorial Auditorium), Monday-Friday at 8am - 12pm, 1 - 5pm, call 580-581-3470/581-3471. Particularly Sarah and Reg's union - with her constantly running him down and bossing him - dismissing his attempts to get everyone to play his game with him - and his general acceptance of her command. This plays counter to Ruth and Norman's marriage which although Norman seems unable to stop himself from suggesting a roll on the carpet or a get-away to every lady present has an honesty and bluntness that carries them - and by the end, carries them through. In a way.Warning: This production contains material that certain people may find objectionable. When:Thursday, November 15, 2018 7:30 PM thru 09:00 PMWhere:Cameron UniversitySchool of Arts and Science - Theatre ArtsLawton, OKFor More Info:Box Office580.581.2478sklein@cameron.eduhttp://www.cameron.edu/theatre_arts/season Add to calendar Apple Google Microsoft 365 Outlook (desktop)Thursday, November 15, 2018CommunityHidden TreasuresAssociate conductor Matthew Glover will lead the OSU Symphony Orchestra in a concert of hidden treasures from the orchestral repertoire, including Mozart's Overture to The Impresario, Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite No. 2, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Symphony No. 1 in E Minor.
