This theme was developed with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The program, Let’s Talk About it, Oklahoma, is a discussion group that comes together for a five-part, scholar-led series. Each scholar opens the program, bringing the book to life, provoking the group’s curiosity with insights and raising questions that spark discussion. All book discussions are held at Cameron University Library every third Thursday of each month at 6pm.This is the third presentation of the five-part, scholar-led series."Dust Tracks on a Road""First published in 1942 at the height of her popularity, Dust Tracks on a Road is Zora Neale Hurston’s candid, funny, bold, and poignant autobiography, an imaginative and exuberant account of her rise from childhood poverty in the rural South to a prominent place among the leading artists and intellectuals of the Harlem Renaissance. As compelling as her acclaimed fiction, Hurston’s very personal literary self-portrait offers a revealing, often audacious glimpse into the life—public and private—of an extraordinary artist, anthropologist, chronicler, and champion of the black experience in America. Full of the wit and wisdom of a proud, spirited woman who started off low and climbed high, Dust Tracks on a Road is a rare treasure from one of literature’s most cherished voices." Courtesy of her website, https://www.zoranealehurston.com.These programs are free and open to the public. Please come and join us to learn from these exciting and interesting books and perhaps share your experience and knowledge with other people. Copies of the books may be picked up at the Arts & Humanities Division Office, 801 NW Ferris (west entrance of McMahon Memorial Auditorium), Monday-Friday at 8am - 12pm, 1 - 5pm, call 580-581-3470/581-3471.
